The CBC Spouses Visual Arts Scholarship was established in 2006 to provide financial assistance to African American or Black students pursuing a degree in the visual arts. Visual arts include architecture, ceramics, drawing, fashion, graphic design, illustration, interior design, painting, photography, sketching, video production, etc. Applicants must be preparing to pursue, or currently pursuing, an undergraduate, graduate or doctoral degree at an accredited college or university. Graduating high school seniors are also eligible to apply. Applicants must also be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident. Applicants must submit a video response as a personal statement. In the video, applicants must discuss how they will use their education to bring change in their community. Applicants must also submit samples of their art work. They must submit five photograph images of their visual art samples. If they have a video as a form of sample work, applicants must provide the URL of the video that should not exceed 3 minutes.
